Mr. Hartog possesses particular expertise in counseling nonprofessional trustees in the administration of living trusts after a settlor's death and in assisting in the resolution of disputes among trust beneficiaries and trustees. Mr. Hartog is certified by the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization as a specialist in both taxation law and estate planning, trust and probate law. He is a past chair of the Estate Planning, Trust and Probate Law Advisory Commission to the California State Bar Board of Legal Specialization. Mr. Hartog is a co-author of California Trust Practice (1996) and has authored and co-authored numerous other articles, books and treatises. He is an adjunct professor at Golden Gate University School of Tax. He received his BA, cum laude, from Pomona College, his JD from the University of California, and an LLM (Taxation) from Golden Gate University. |
